Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering
This program provides students with the fundamental knowledge in chemical and petrochemical engineering and the other courses designed for students to develop their professional skills. Graduates from this program will be able to design, manufacture and operate chemical and petrochemical projects and systems, provide technical support and contribute to establishment of petrochemical plants, desalination plants, wastewater treatment units, oil production lines, and fertilizer plants, all of which are of crucial importance to the Sultanate of Oman. Furthermore, graduates from the program will be able to:
- Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools in chemical and petrochemical engineering.
- Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
- Manage the design and development of chemical and petrochemical systems, components, or processes to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
- Function in multidisciplinary teams, and understand their professional and ethical responsibilities.
PROGRAMME CONTENT
The taught elements of the program comprise an integrated package of University requirements, College requirements, Major requirements and Technical elective courses. All students must also complete an eight-week internship training course in addition to the taught courses of the program.
ATTENDANCE
Full time.
Full time degree students can complete the program in 9 semesters (four and half years) on achieving 137 credit hours of study. Diploma students may complete the program in 5 semesters (Two and half years) on achieving 77 credit hours of study.
Special Part-Time or Evening Study.
